Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup milk (whole or plant-based)
  • 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender
  • 6 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 teaspoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat milk and lavender until just simmering. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the lavender-infused milk until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for about 20 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Meanwhile, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bread.
