Ingredients

Scale
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp softened butter
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1½ tbsp dried Italian herb blend
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast over top and let sit for about five minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in flour, salt, and olive oil until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in an oiled bowl covered with plastic wrap for about one hour until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare herb butter by mixing softened butter with minced garlic and Italian herbs.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread herb butter evenly, then sprinkle cheeses and parsley on top.
  7. Roll tightly into a log, seal the edges, and place seam-side down in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
