  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 small green pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 (14-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Tony Chachere's Original Creole Seasoning (or more to taste)
  • Buns for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown 2 pounds of ground beef with finely diced onion and chopped green pepper until meat is cooked through and vegetables are softened (about 5–7 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  2. Add garlic powder, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar to the skillet. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, petite diced tomatoes (undrained), ketchup, and Creole seasoning. Mix thoroughly and let simmer for an additional 10 minutes until thickened.
  4. Toast hamburger buns lightly before spooning generous portions of the filling onto each bun. Serve immediately.
