  • 1.8 kg Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves (optional)
  • 75g melted salted butter
  • 240ml hot milk or cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil Potatoes: Peel and quarter the potatoes. Place in a pot with cold, salted water and add optional garlic. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Dry and Mash: Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Let them steam dry for about 2 minutes, then add melted butter. Mash gently until combined.
  3. Finish and Season: Gradually pour in hot milk while mashing until you reach your desired consistency. Season generously with salt and pepper before serving.
