  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown the chicken pieces seasoned with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic in the same skillet until fragrant. Add diced carrots and celery; cook until softened.
  3. Return the chicken to the skillet, add frozen peas, and sprinkle flour over the mixture.
  4. Gradually stir in chicken broth and milk; bring to a simmer.
  5. Add orzo along with thyme and rosemary; cook until orzo is tender.
  6. Transfer the mixture to an oven-proof dish, cover with puff pastry, seal edges, brush with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
