Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 small oranges or tangelos (about 1820 slices)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 cups water

Instructions

  1. Slice the oranges into ¼-inch rounds using a sharp knife or mandoline for even cooking.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to boil.
  3. Lower the heat and add the orange slices in a single layer. Simmer for 45–60 minutes until they turn translucent, turning occasionally.
  4. Carefully remove the slices with tongs and place them on a wire rack to dry uncovered at room temperature for 24–48 hours until tacky but set.
  5. For added flair, roll in sugar or dip in melted dairy-free chocolate before serving.
