  • 270 grams all-purpose flour (about 2 ¼ cups), plus extra for dusting
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar (50 grams)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3 Tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 Tablespoon very hot water

Instructions

  1. Prepare cinnamon butter by creaming softened butter with ground cinnamon until smooth. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk with half of the prepared cinnamon butter. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  4. Turn dough onto a floured surface, pat into a circle about 1 inch thick, and cut into wedges or rounds.
  5. Place on a lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with melted butter and hot water to reach desired consistency; drizzle over warm scones.
