  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla extract using an electric mixer until well blended.
  3. Add the egg and mix until just incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until fully combined.
  6. Scoop out dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet in balls about 1 to 1½ inches wide.
  7. Use a fork to create crisscross patterns on top of each dough ball.
  8. Bake for about 7-8 minutes until edges are set but centers are slightly soft.
