  • 400g lean ground beef
  • 3 shallots
  • 2 small stalks of celery
  • 1 carrot
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 400g chopped tomatoes (canned)
  • 500g gnocchi
  • 120g mature cheddar cheese
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • Chicken or beef stock

Instructions

  1. Spray a frying pan with olive oil and sauté chopped shallots, carrot, and celery until soft.
  2. Add minced garlic and ground beef; cook until browned.
  3. Stir in chopped tomatoes, mixed herbs, stock, and balsamic vinegar. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
  4. During the last few minutes of simmering, add gnocchi until cooked through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish, top with grated cheddar cheese, and broil for about 4 minutes until bubbly.
