  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans great northern beans (drained)
  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp (peeled, deveined, tails removed)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add cubed chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes until browned.
  2. Stir in diced onion, celery, bell pepper, and minced jalapeño; sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add minced garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and flour; cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Gradually stir in chicken broth and add drained beans. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat; let cook for about 10 minutes.
  5. Finish by adding raw shrimp and heavy cream; cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until shrimp is pink and cooked through.
