  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined; then add egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce.
  4. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until just combined; gently mix in diced apples.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes; switch on the broiler to caramelize the glaze.
  7. For glaze: whisk powdered sugar with apple cider until smooth.
  8. Brush glaze over warm fritter bites; broil for an additional 2-4 minutes until bubbly.
  9. Let cool for about 15 minutes before serving.
